for self-care tactics you use when around family saying generally fucked up shit?
While here I will likely have to listen to//am listening to extremely classist, racist, religious anti-abortion, body-shaming/fatphobic bullshit…
I definitely don’t have the energy to call out any of it because reasons (except for how I am having this huge conversation with my dad to do just that and that will take more than enough of my strength and heart energy), and thus far my self-care tactic has been completely ignoring it, not engaging with it, pretending I don’t hear it.
Tools I brought with me for self-care: tinctures, sage to smudge with, my tarot deck (although I can’t use it openly bc my family -except for my mama- thinks it’s sinful witch shit), a couple crystals, a fox bone I was gifted foxy energy protection, a journal.
So all those are great and tools that have kept me safe through a lot, I’m just looking for like on-the-stop self-care in protecting my self from being utterly drained by hearing a ton of this nonsense on the daily for a month.
